Zac and I decided it would be fun to make a stop-motion film together. I am a huge fan of the style and PB&J seemed like a fitting candidate for a short. However, the real reason we made this sandwich was because Zac has NEVER HAD A PB&J BEFORE. I’m not sure how, but this is the truth. Anyway, I set off to find him the best ingredients for his first PB&J – Tuscan Wheat from When Pigs Fly Bakery, Organic Strawberry Jam from Trader Joes, and Fresh Ground Peanut Butter from Whole Foods. The method used in this video is based off the article “How to Make a Better Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich” on Gilt Taste by Ruth Reichl, found here.
The result was everything you want in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Sturdy, soft bread, creamy peanut butter, and sweet fruit jam in the perfect ratios. However, when you are unable to associate munching down a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with the context of being six and acquiring smears of sticky peanut butter on the corners of your mouth while gloobs of fruity jam make their way out the front of the sandwich and on to your brand new light-up sneakers that barely scrape the tile floor, it’s difficult to feel nostalgic for. None the less, I’m glad he had this particular experience with me and that we were able to collaborate and make this super awesome movie together!!! Check it out and let us know what you think!
